FAIRFIELD - Police in Fairfield say they had to confiscate political signs in town following complaints the signs were causing confusion for drivers.

Sgt. Sue Lussier says the signs, which look like stop signs, were too close to an intersection.

Fairfield Republican Party Chairman Kyle Farmer and Rep. Brenda Kupchick retrieved the signs from police headquarters on Monday.

They say the signs can be legally put back up, just in less confusing locations.

The police department says no fines are being issued and no charges are being pressed. Police are asking future complaints about the signs be handled by the political offices.
