Fairfield police probe reported attempted abduction

FAIRFIELD - Fairfield police are investigating after a 14-year-old girl says she fought off an attacker who followed her home from school yesterday afternoon.

Police say the Fairfield Warde High School student was walking near Black Rock Turnpike and Jennings Road when she noticed a man following her in his car at around 4:30 p.m.

Officials say she went into a CVS, but the man waited in the parking lot and followed her again. They say the man approached the girl and grabbed her arm, but she managed to fight him off and run home.

Police describe the suspect as a white man between 40 and 50 years old and approximately 5 feet, 4 inches tall. They say he was wearing a baseball hat, glasses, a tan jumpsuit and boots with a "5 o'clock shadow." He was driving a black Nissan Maxima.

Investigators are pulling surveillance tape from nearby stores and are urging anyone with information to call Fairfield police at 203-254-4800.
