Neighbors say they heard loud noises that woke them up early on Sunday morning.

FAIRFIELD - Fairfield police are looking for the vandals who damaged more than a dozen mailboxes in town.

Police say the damaged mailboxes are on Mill Plain Road and other nearby streets.

Neighbors say they heard a loud noise that woke them up early on Sunday morning, and later found their mailboxes broken.

Police say that it appears the 15 mailboxes were hit by a car, and that there were tire tracks left in the dirt near them. Neighbors say they also found a broken piece of a car on the ground, which has been given to police.
