FAIRFIELD - Fairfield police say they are searching for an arsonist after three suspicious fires occurred early this morning at different locations around town.

The first one started before 2:30 a.m. on North Benson Road where the roof of a vacant building caught fire.

Firefighters were then called to put out a second blaze shortly after 3 a.m. at a vacant home on Woodridge Avenue.  The last fire on Cornell Road started at around 3:40 a.m. and had the most damage.

All three homes were vacant and had for sale signs out.

Firefighters say 15 minutes before getting the second call this morning, they were called to a small shed burning nearby, possibly a decoy to distract their attention.

Police say they are now looking at six separate fires in five locations,  including one home on Chatam Road they were called to on Monday morning and then hours later Monday night.
