Fairfield police say an alert sent home today about a suspicious vehicle was a false alarm.

They had sent an email out telling parents that a Roger Sherman Elementary School student was approached by a man in a van while walking home from school yesterday.

The man allegedly followed the boy and offered him a ride twice before taking off.
