Fairfield police: Suspicious vehicle report was a false alarm

FAIRFIELD - Fairfield police say an alert sent home today about a suspicious vehicle was a false alarm.

They had sent an email out telling parents that a Roger Sherman Elementary School student was approached by a man in a van while walking home from school yesterday.

The man allegedly followed the boy and offered him a ride twice before taking off.

Police now say the man was a parent of another student. They say the incident happened when the student was riding his skateboard through the street, and the parent approached him because he was recklessly riding the skateboard.
