FAIRFIELD - Fairfield's Public Works Department says it is loaded up with salt and prepped for the first winter storm of the season.
The forecast is calling for about 3 inches of snow in some parts of the region. The snow is expected to start this morning and last through much of the day.
The public works superintendent says he will have 58 trucks on the road by 7 a.m. on Tuesday. Superintendent Scott Bartlett had employees add salt to one-third of those trucks, add chains to tires and check their gear.
He says his crew is ready to clear 288 miles of roads and parking lots. The town says it will also have crews hand-salting sidewalks, railroad tracks and train stations.
The Public Works Department is advising drivers to stay back from any salt trucks to give them room to clear the roads.
