FAIRFIELD - Fairfield residents reported multiple bear sightings near Fairfield University in Greenfield Hills Thursday.

Police say they removed one black bear, but believe multiple bears had been roaming through town.

A witness sent in video of a black bear on Denise Terrace shortly after it was tranquilized in a tree by Fairfield police and Animal Control.

Officials say despite falling from the tree, the bear will be OK.

It was trucked out of the area by Animal Control workers. Officials say they released the bear by Hemlock Reservoir in Easton after it woke up.

Officials say anyone who spots a bear should avoid it and call in the sighting to police.
