FAIRFIELD - Fairfield's superintendent of schools is being called a hero after donating one of his kidneys to his son.

David Title decided to donate his kidney to his oldest son, Russell, in order to prevent many of the complications that his younger son experienced.

Title lost his youngest child, Jack, in April 2014 due to complications caused by acute kidney failure. Jack had been diagnosed with a variation of Alport Syndrome, which causes kidney damage.

It is the same syndrome that affects Russell.

The two underwent surgery in April. Since then, Title says that Russell is healthier and has more energy.

Title says that he, on the other hand, had a more difficult recovery. He has returned to work, but only part-time.

He says that he has enjoyed all the extra time he has been able to spend with his son.
