FAIRFIELD - The Fairfield American Little League team is on its way to Williamsport, Pa. to play in the Little League World Series.

Fairfield qualified by winning the New England tournament on Saturday.

The team left from Bristol this morning.

Opening ceremonies for the World Series will take place on Friday.

Fairfield First Selectman Ken Flatto says the town is planning a celebratory pep rally.
