FAIRFIELD - Residents on Sunnie Holm Drive in Fairfield say they're on high alert and taking extra precautions after a rabid skunk bit a woman.

Fairfield Animal Control Officer Gina Gambino says the woman was gardening when a skunk came out of the bushes and bit her hand.

Gambino advises residents to be cautious when approached by an animal that isn't afraid of them and to call animal control.
