A falling tree knocked out power to over 1,000 people in Fairfield.

FAIRFIELD - Over 1,000 people were without power in Fairfield after a tree fell and damaged utility equipment today.

Officials say the power was affected in the Black Rock Turnpike, and Congress Street areas as well as near exit 44 off of the Merritt Parkway.

It took crews a few hours to restore service.
