SOUTHPORT - A Fairfield family says it hired a live-in aide to care for its elderly mother, but when the mother passed away, the aide refused to move out.
The Dutko family says that two years after it began using the agency to care for the 84-year-old mother, it switched to a private hire.
The family says it learned that its mother had stage 4 cancer several months after hiring the aide and she passed away a few weeks later.
The Dutkos say the aide refuses to leave the home and they had to go to court to file for eviction.
The aide says the Dutkos owe her money, while the family says it has paperwork to prove otherwise.
