FAIRFIELD - Family and friends are making bracelets to raise funds for the care of a teenager who was critically injured in a car accident.

Lee Faiga, 17, is in physical therapy, and some of her relatives have stopped working in order to care for her. Her supporters say she has made great progress since the accident.

"She's out of her neck brace. She's metal-free," says Julie Beitman. "She's in rehab, which will take in excess of a year. She's not walking on her own."

Police say Lee was a passenger in a Jeep that crashed into a utility pole on Knapps Highway in May. Lee and the driver had just left Fairfield Warde High School.

Relatives and friends say the blue bracelets they are making to raise money for Lee's care are representative of the teen's blue eyes.

The bracelets are available with a suggested donation of $20. They are available at locations such as Capitol Photo, Bob's shopping center and Beth El synagogue.

Relatives say 100 percent of the proceeds will go to Lee's care.
