REDDING - The family of a 4-year-old Redding boy who was almost killed when the base of a tree fell on him last November spoke to News 12 about his long road to recovery.

Angela Klimaytis says her ex-husband was cutting through a fallen tree at his home when it suddenly sprang upright and trapped their son, Robby, beneath its base. The child was without oxygen for 30 minutes until he was rescued.

Nearly a year later, Robby Klimaytis has a basically upbeat attitude, though his brain function remains limited. Doctors say there is not much hope that his brain activity will return in the future.

“Sometimes I wonder how the quality of life is for him,” said Angela Klimaytis.

The family is accepting donations to the Robert Lawrence Klimaytis Recovery Fund to pay for what insurance does not cover.
