Family of Adam Diaz, hit-and-run victim from Stratford, speaks about rehab, fundraising

STAMFORD - A hit-and-run victim from Stratford is still recuperating after suffering traumatic injuries in November.

Adam Diaz was hit by an SUV on Thanksgiving Day while walking on the Derby-Shelton Bridge with a friend, causing severe injuries to his lower body. His left leg had to be amputated and he has undergone multiple surgeries.

Police arrested 22-year-old James DePalmer of Derby, who they say fled the scene but later turned himself in.

Rachel DeMarsico says the family is focused on helping Diaz walk again. To aid in his recovery effort, she has organized a fundraiser for Jan. 30 at Vazzano’s Four Season in Stratford.

Diaz is currently recuperating at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
