NORWALK - The family of 16-year-old Teanna Escourse is asking whoever was responsible for striking her with their car to come forward.

Police say two pedestrians found Escourse lying on the sidewalk unconscious after apparently being struck by a hit-and-run driver on New Year's Eve.

Investigators say that the incident most likely caused a lot of damage to the vehicle.

Gillian Escourse, Teanna's mother, says that she is slowly recovering and is out of a coma but is still suffering from severe head trauma, numerous fractures and is in need of a number of surgeries.

Police are asking anyone with information to call them at 203-854-3051.
