BRIDGEPORT - Dozens watched as a man was killed Sunday when his car plunged into the Pequonnock River in Bridgeport.

According to police, a sedan was going down Lindley Street when it broke through an embankment and plunged into the river.

Police found the unidentified man's body moments before a crane was used to remove the overturned car from the icy water.

Police are still investigating the cause of the accident and have not released any other information.
