BRIDGEPORT - The Metro-North derailment and collision that happened between Bridgeport and Fairfield just a year ago has federal officials urging more track inspections.

The National Transportation Safety Board recently found that Metro-North inspectors may have failed to see a broken part just two days before that train crash that injured dozens of passengers.

The board is now recommending tracks be inspected at least once every two weeks.

Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch says it is important for the region.
