BRIDGEPORT - Officials from the Federal Emergency Management Agency were on the ground in Bridgeport today to tally up the damage from last week's tornado.

FEMA crews started in the lower East Main Street section, where the city says more than 100 families have been left without a home.

One team talked with residents and added up their claims while another collected information on damages to city infrastructure.

FEMA says it is all part of a preliminary review to help determine if the city is eligible for a disaster declaration.

The city estimates the damage will be in the millions. Mayor Bill Finch is urging anyone who sustained damage to report it to the city by calling their hotline at 203-579-3829.
