DANBURY - Filipinos in Connecticut are watching coverage of Typhoon Haiyan while waiting to hear that their families are safe.
Volunteers at the H&K Filipino Variety store at 345 Main St. are collecting clothing, canned goods, detergents and soap to send to those in the Philippines affected by the storm. Residents are also gathering at H&K to talk about family back home in the Philippines and have those that understand listen.
With communication for the most part down in the Philippines, there is little people can do other than wait to hear from their loved ones.
At least four people have been killed by the storm and hundreds of thousands have been forced from their homes.
