Finch thanks Bpt. unions for concessions

BRIDGEPORT - Mayor Bill Finch said Friday he?s grateful to city unions for making personal and financial sacrifices that will shave millions off Bridgeport?s deficit.

Concessions by 14 city unions are helping Bridgeport save $4.5 million. The city is working to close a $20 million budget gap.

?I feel good about helping out the people of Bridgeport,? says Frank Cuccaro, president of the city?s police union. ?We?re all having a tough time, and we gotta work it out together.?

Bob Whitbread from the Bridgeport Fire Department says the city?s problems must be fixed through teamwork.

?That?s what we do is work together to solve problems,? says Whitbread. ?That?s what we did this time around.?
