GREENWICH - Two animals were killed in a fire at a Greenwich home Thursday evening.

Firefighters say the home on Palmer's Hill Road was filled with thick black smoke when they arrived. Knowing that a dog was inside, firefighters searched and eventually found the animal on the second floor.

Firefighter Jason James then tried to save the dog by giving it CPR, but the animal died. James says even though he wasn't successful, he was glad his special training allowed him to try.
