NORWALK - Firefighters responded to an apartment fire early Sunday morning that left one man burned and a firefighter injured.

According to firefighters, the fire broke out in an apartment at the Pinebrook apartment complex on North Taylor Avenue around 2 a.m.

Fire officials say that one tenant suffered burns to the hands and was taken to the hospital and a firefighter suffered a broken ankle after slipping on ice while fighting the fire.

The blaze was contained quickly and the Connecticut Red Cross was on-scene to provide temporary housing and supplies for affected tenants.

Fire officials say that the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
