Fire leaves 8 homeless in Bridgeport

Eight people are homeless following a fire in Bridgeport early Wednesday morning.It happened at a two-story home on Main Street just after 1 a.m.Firefighters needed

BRIDGEPORT - Eight people are homeless following a fire in Bridgeport early Wednesday morning.

It happened at a two-story home on Main Street just after 1 a.m.

Firefighters needed to use a ladder to rescue four people from the top floor of the building. Those people were all taken to the hospital.

Four others got out on their own and were not hurt. A cat living in the building was killed in the fire.

The Red Cross is working to provide shelter for residents.
