BRIDGEPORT - Fire officials say a Bridgeport family was left homeless on Christmas after an early morning fire destroyed their Frenchtown Road house.

Assistant Fire Chief Manuel Firpy says flames broke out at the home at around 3 a.m. Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames, but the house was badly damaged.

The Bridgeport Chapter of the American Red Cross is helping the family by putting them up in a nearby hotel for a few days.
