NORWALK - Fire officials say they are investigating what started a fire in a Norwalk apartment building this afternoon.

Officials say three people were hospitalized after a fire broke out at the Roodner Court housing complex on Ely Avenue in Norwalk at around 4 p.m.

Fire officials say the fire started in a second-floor apartment of Building 23, where they say a 98-year-old disabled woman was trapped. Witnesses say fire crews had to rescue the woman from her fire escape.

Officials say two other residents were hospitalized due to smoke inhalation. They say at least two apartments were destroyed in the fire.
