EASTON - An Easton man is trying to make a big difference with a small request.

Gary Simone, director of the town’s Parks and Recreation Department, is asking people to join him Saturday for the first-ever Easton Acts of Kindness Day.

Simone created the event in response to a challenge set out by NBC's Ann Curry after the Boston Marathon bombings.

Organizers of the event say the goal is to focus on being nice to each other and helping in small but meaningful ways. They say the day will have a carnival atmosphere and include several soccer and softball games.

The Parks and Recreation Department says it plans to turn the day into an annual event.
