MILFORD - A former Milford police officer failed to reach a plea deal by the deadline today in connection with charges stemming from a car accident that killed two teenagers.

Officials say Jason Anderson was returning from a call when his police cruiser slammed head-on into a car carrying 19-year-olds Ashlie Krakowski and David Servin, both of Orange. Investigators say Anderson was driving more than 90 mph at the time of the crash.

Anderson has been charged with two counts of manslaughter. His attorney, Hugh Keefe, says the case now appears to be headed to trial, but it is unclear when that will be. The state's attorney says there are 16 or 17 cases ahead of it on the docket.

Neither side in the case has discussed the monthlong negotiations or will say what Anderson was offered.
