STORRS - Former President Bill Clinton spoke to students at the University of Connecticut Thursday as he received a special honor. 

Clinton was awarded the Thomas J. Dodd Prize in International Justice and Human Rights. 

He says it's important for students to join in the fight for human rights throughout the world. 

African human rights group Tostan also received the award with $100,000 in prize money.
