STAMFORD - A former Stamford teacher is once again facing the possibility of 12 years behind bars for allegedly killing three people in a 2005 drunken-driving crash.

Prosecutors say Tricia Coccomo crossed the double yellow line on Long Ridge Road and slammed into a car carrying three people, James and Barbara Inverno, of Stamford, and Glenn Shelley, of Norwalk.

In a 4-3 decision, the state Supreme Court yesterday reinstated manslaughter and drunken-driving convictions against Coccomo.

A lower court had thrown out her convictions in 2009.

Coccomo's attorney says he plans to ask the state Supreme Court to reconsider its decision to uphold her convictions.
