WILTON - The freezing temperatures have led to a spike in outer gear sales at many retail stores across southwestern Connecticut.

Retailers tell News 12 that one of the most in demand items is a gator mask, which covers the face from the nose to the upper neck area.

Other popular purchases include hats, gloves and coats.

Retailers advise consumers not to buy cotton because it sucks in moisture.
