BRIDGEPORT - A fire destroyed a home in Bridgeport early this morning.
It happened at around 3:30 a.m. on French Street.
Authorities say they are not yet ready to characterize the incident as arson, but they said a dog trained to seek out flamable chemicles detected the presence of something at one of the front doors.
The fire spread quickly, destroying the porch and rising to the roof. Almost three dozen firefighters showed up to tame the flames.
Witnesses say four adults and a child were inside. The other residents were not home.
The Red Cross is helping the residents find a place to stay.
No one was hurt.
