WESTPORT - Friends and co-workers are remembering a well-liked high school youth counselor who died suddenly over the weekend.

Chris Lemone, 49, was a youth counselor at Staples High School for 18 years. Officials say it appears Lemone died of a heart attack.

As a way to honor him, staff members have posted a sign that asks for people to write a letter to Lemone's family. The sign is hanging outside the school. All of the letters gathered will then be made into a scrapbook for his family.

Students who worked with Lemone say he made an impact in their lives. His co-workers also spoke highly of him.

"What I remember most about Chris is he was so genuine and everybody he would talk to, he made that person feel like they were the only person in the world," says Elaine Daignault.

There is also a scholarship fund being set up in his honor to help support his three children.

A wake for Lemone will be held Thursday. He will be laid to rest on Friday.
