SOUTHPORT - A fire that destroyed Sammy's Pizza in Southport has the community rallying to raise money to bring the restaurant back into service.

The pizza shop had been serving up slices in the town for 10 years until a blaze closed it down Monday morning.

The restaurant means so much to the community that a fundraiser has been scheduled for later this month.

Owner Sammy Palik hopes to reopen the shop with the help of his customers. "I'm here for good, I'm not going nowhere," Palik said.
