MILFORD - The father of a Stratford native killed in the Sandy Hook school shootings says his family is having a fundraiser to benefit a cause close to his daughter's heart.

First-grade teacher Victoria Soto was shot as she tried to protect her students.

Her father, Carlos Soto, says the family will host a benefit dinner Wednesday at La Famiglia Vincenzo Restaurant in Milford.

Soto says all the money raised will go to a scholarship fund in his daughter's name.

He says his family gives out four scholarships each year to high school seniors who want to be teachers.

Soto says each scholarship is in the amount of $5,026, in honor of the 26 people killed in the 2012 shooting.
