NORWALK - A funeral was held today for the Norwalk man killed while walking on the Route 7 Connector.

The service for James Kuta Shaw was held at the First Congregational Church on the Green in Norwalk.

Friends and family all showed up to pay their respects to the football player who was a Norwalk native.

The 21-year old, who many simply called "Kuta," lost his life when he was hit by a car along Route 7 earlier this month.

Many said they had special and unique memories of the young man. They described Shaw as a popular kid with a heart of gold.

To help the Shaw family with funeral costs, a charity event will take place at 9 p.m. tonight at Cafe Eats in Stamford

Another charity event will be held on Wednesday at My Three Sons in Norwalk.
