NORWALK - An elderly woman lost her life Thursday after being struck by a garbage truck in Norwalk.

Police say a garbage truck hit the 93-year-old around 2:30 p.m. on Hedge Road. The driver allegedly loaded something into his vehicle, got back into his truck and ran over the woman without seeing her.

Neighbors are shocked.

The driver has agreed to submit a urine sample to test for alcohol and drugs. Police say they're still investigating the accident and aren't sure if the driver will face any charges.

The woman's name has not been released.
