BRIDGEPORT - Bridgeport's main post office was evacuated this morning after a natural gas leak.
Southern Connecticut Gas says repair crews working on the sewers hit the gas line on Golden Hill Street with a piece of their equipment.
About 50 workers at the post office and employees at the nearby bus terminal were evacuated after the leak.
Greater Bridgeport Transit worker Martha Montalvo says she started coughing and became nauseous and dizzy as a result.
The gas leak also forced trains on the nearby Metro-North tracks to be stopped for about an hour. Buses were also rerouted.
Connecticut Department of Public Utility Control is investigating.
