HARTFORD - The state House of Representatives and the state Senate on Wednesday overwhelmingly approved a deal Gov. Dannel Malloy struck with Lockheed Martin to keep Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford.

As News 12 reported, the deal calls for Lockheed to move production of a heavy-lift naval helicopter from Florida to Stratford in return for $220 million in grants and tax breaks.

House legislators praised the bill, saying it's good not only for the Stratford area but for the entire state.

"Sikorsky will purchase, even more importantly the supply chain, will purchase more than $6.5 billion worth of products from hundreds of Connecticut supply chain suppliers," said Rep. Jeffrey Berger.

The deal must still be approved by Sikorsky's unions.
