Giovanni Candelario and Shannon Mack charged after Bridgeport chase

BRIDGEPORT - Bridgeport police say they arrested two men for leading officers on a chase.

Police say they arrested Giovanni Candelario and Shannon Mack.

Officers were responding to a report of shots fired Saturday night and tried to pull the two over as they investigated.

Candelario allegedly ran off during the arrest and officers later found him hiding in a garbage can.

Police recovered a handgun they believe Candelario tried to throw away. They say he is a well-known gang member who was out on bond.

Meanwhile, they say Mack was arrested for failing to pull over.
