DARIEN - A mother from Darien is facing charges after police say she left her 5-year-old son home alone.

Police say the child was home sick while Gleice Porretta went to her baby-sitting job last week.

Officers say the boy called his father, who was in California, and told him he was home alone.

They say the father told his brother in Connecticut to contact police, who found the boy alone at Porretta's apartment.

Police say Porretta is currently back in the home with her two sons.  She has been charged with risk of injury to a minor.
