BRIDGEPORT - American Cancer Society statistics show that colon and rectum cancer is expected to cause more than 50,000 deaths this year.

One cancer patient in southwestern Connecticut says a new website is making it easier financially to fight those odds.

Pablo Valadez, a 36-year-old Bridgeport man suffering from colon cancer, set up a fund on to help pay for surgeries, chemotherapy and doctor appointments.

The website allows family, friends and even strangers to donate money anonymously online.
