NEW BRITAIN - Gov. Dannel Malloy signed a bill Thursday to increase the state's minimum wage to $10.10 by 2017.

The House and Senate passed the bill on Wednesday.

President Barack Obama was in Connecticut earlier this month advocating for that same amount to be established on the federal level.

Republicans are criticizing the bill, saying it will hurt struggling small business owners and block job growth.
