HARTFORD - Gov. Dannel Malloy is promising to balance the state budget without increasing the burden on Connecticut families.

The governor unveiled his new two-year $43.8 billion state proposal to the General Assembly this afternoon.

Malloy says his budget proposes more than $152 million in funding for school districts over the next two years.

It also includes money to boost programs at colleges and universities, cuts $1.8 billion from state services and keeps spending within Connecticut's projected revenue.

The governor's proposal will now be reviewed by the General Assembly. Lawmakers have until the end of June to pass a budget.
