HARTFORD - Gov. Malloy has signed a bill into law that attempts to give nonviolent criminals more opportunities to turn their lives around.

The governor held a bill-signing ceremony at the state Capitol Thursday for his so called Second Chance Society legislation.

He promised to offer additional changes in the next legislative session.

Gov. Malloy said that in the last four years, violent crime has gone down by 36 percent and criminal arrests are down 28 percent.
