Gov. Rell announces anti-mosquito initiative

NORWALK - Gov. Jodi Rell announced Sunday that in conjunction with National Mosquito Awareness Week, the state has launched a new Web site to help residents manage mosquitoes.

Mosquitoes can carry diseases including West Nile virus and Eastern equine encephalitis virus. Rell says that one way to avoid mosquito bites is to minimize time spent outdoors at dusk and dawn.

The governor also suggests that if you are outside, protect yourself by wearing shoes, socks, long pants and long-sleeved shirts.
