BRIDGEPORT - State-run mental health facilities will soon allow its security officers to carry guns.

Officers at the Greater Bridgeport Community Mental Health Center pushed to carry guns after two recent shootings in the area.

A spokesman for the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services says they're changing their policy to allow officers to carry guns.

Officials say they will not be able to bring the weapons inside locked psychiatric units.
