GREENWICH - An 11-year-old Greenwich girl has found a creative and touching way to help a local organization that benefits children in need.
In November, the state cut funding for the organization Kids in Crisis by about $750,000, leaving the group to raise the money on its own.
After hearing the news and wishing to help, Sami Goldman sent letters to President Barack Obama, Sen. Richard Blumenthal and Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, among others.
"I think it is extremely awful that the state took away some of their budget," the letter reads. "You're only hurting the kids."
Goldman says she knows how lucky she is to have parents who love her and a place to stay, which are things all children should have. Her mother Jamie is a volunteer with the organization, and says it gives children a safe place to stay.
Goldman ends the letter by writing, "Isn't it important to keep these kids safe? Isn't it the least you can do for them?"
