GREENWICH - People in Greenwich are mourning the death of a Greenwich High School graduate.

Police say Sarah Coit, 23, was found beaten and stabbed Sunday morning in her New York City apartment.

By the time officers got to her, witnesses say Coit's head was nearly severed from her body.

Police say her boyfriend, Raul Barrera, 33, turned himself in hours later.

Coit graduated from Greenwich High School in 2005.

Her former coach says back then, her future looked bright. The track team says it plans to honor Coit during a special ceremony at the last home meet of the season on May 15.
