GREENWICH - (AP) - Authorities say a 70-year-old Greenwich, Conn. man was seriously injured when his single-engine planecrashed shortly after taking off from an airport in upstate NewYork.

The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office says the pilot, VictorRomley, was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center. His conditionwas not immediately known.

Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Arlene Salac saidthe pilot was the only person aboard when the plane crashed justbefore 3 p.m. Sunday after taking off from Sky Acres Airport inUnion Vale, N.Y.

Salac said there were no injuries on the ground. The cause ofthe accident is still under investigation. Union Vale is in Dutchess County, about 70 miles north of NewYork City.
